NZ Superstock Championship Round 2 Timaru

NZ Superstock Championship Round 2 Timaru
A much more successful weekend for us in Timaru. Friday testing was a little disappointing as it was raining heavily all day. We did do some laps but were happy anyway as I know the track very well and am not fazed by wet conditions. A last minute visit to physio late Friday afternoon and my ankle and I were all good to attack the weekend.... [more]

NZ Superstock Championship Round 1

NZ Superstock Championship Round 1
Johnny had a mixed weekend , witha crash in race 1 (See above). He however recovered to finish 3rd the New Zealand Superstock Grand Prix and score 16 valuable points. He is a long way behind going in to Round two at Timaru this weekend. But is confident of a good result " I've done a million laps around there and know it like the back of my hand" commenting at Ruapuna , hopefully I can peg some points back on Jake and the rest ahead of me. I am very proud to tell you all I accumulated sufficient points at the fourth round of the NZ Superbike Road Race Championships at Hampton Downs to secure the NZ ProTwin Championship for 2011. I also won the NZ Tourist Trophy for the ProTwin class also classified as a NZ Title. I travelled to Hampton Downs with Dad arriving late on the Thursday afternoon we called into the track to have a look, as I have never seen the track before. We were fortunate enough to be allowed to do a couple of lap [more]

Round three is now ticked off the calendar, with a successful weekend highlighted with winning of the ProTwin NZ Grand Prix race on Sunday afternoon securing my first National Title. Johnny Hepburn and I headed to Christchurch on Friday for more testing. Saturday again was qualifying and one race. I qualified 2nd .3 of a second behind Daniel Kempthorne. Castrol Power1 Superbike Road Race Championship
Well we had a fantastic weekend, an excellent meeting with full fields and the best crowd Timaru has seen at a motorcycle meeting for a long time. Well done to the South Canterbury Motorcycle Club and Grant for hosting a great event. Johnny Hepburn and I spent Friday testing and were very happy with the set up, thanks for the time Johnny. Protwin were racing with the Superlite class which should in theory be a lot quicker than the 650. Saturday we had qualifying and one race. Qualifying w [more]

Race Report - Johnny Small

Race Report - Johnny Small
Following competing at the Burt Munro at Teretonga early December where I won the three races in my class, Johnny Hepburn organised a ride for me on a 600, thanks to Shaun Harris at the 2nd round of the Tri Series at Manfeild (Palmerston North). There was testing Friday and two races Saturday. I was happy with how thing went but slightly disappointed with results in both races, but with the competition so much tougher in 600s than anything I have been out with before 10th and 11th perhaps [more]

HEPBURN LAMENTS A LACK OF POWER

HEPBURN LAMENTS A LACK OF POWER
HEPBURN LAMENTS A LACK OF POWER A lack of power frustrated Timaru driver John Hepburn during Round 1 of the BNT V8s Championship at Pukekohe Park Raceway this weekend. Hepburn was pleased with the corner speed of the John Hepburn Racing Commodore saying the car was faster in that area than in previous years. However the engine was a different matter, Hepburn describing it as a "slug" as the telemetry showed he was losing up to 13 kilometres per hour down the straights at the fast [more] [Link]

Race report from Johnny Small

Race report from Johnny Small
Hi Everyone Well finally some track time, spent Friday afternoon at Levels with Johnny and Grant (thanks guys) testing and adjusting the bike. Saturday was the first round of King of Ruapuna (Christchurch), as we would expect now it was wet and we were unclear if we should run dry or wet set up. We opted for dry, bad choice ran at the back of the field, for the first race frustrating I do not enjoy that!. We had a wet race two on a wet set up. The bike felt great and I finished second. HEPBURN ATTRACTS UNWANTED ATTENTION Timaru driver John Hepburn summed up his last outing of the 2009/2010 BNT V8s Championship at Taupo Motorsport Park this weekend quite simply. Good Speed from Hepburn

Good Speed from Hepburn
Timaru driver John Hepburn again showed speed as he continued his good progress in the BNT V8s at Round 5 of the championship at Manfeild in Feilding this weekend. What he does lack right now though is that ounce of luck to convert good drives into consistent points. The Manfeild round was a perfect example. Hepburn had a difficult start to the weekend in his Classic Hits Timaru Commodore, overcoming problems in testing and qualifying to come back strongly to [more]

HEPBURN SUFFERS DEJA VU
The second round of the BNT V8s Championship at Powerbuilt Tools Raceway at Ruapuna in Christchurch this weekend was almost a case of deja vu for Timaru driver John Hepburn.
